Q:  I have recently taken over an industrial area within my company that uses the NH15 escape hoods.

The industrial chemicals used in this area is HCl, Cl2, and NO2 gas.

I am concerned due to the posted filter performance of the Avon NH15 only listing NO2 gas:

Does this escape hood also protect again HCl and Cl2 gas?

A:  Yes, the NH15 will protect against HCl, Cl2, and NO2 gas for escape.

NH15 is NIOSH and CE certified for escape from CBRN environments. It is not designed to protect against carbon monoxide and cannot be used in oxygen deficient atmospheres. Essentially, follow all the caveats in the UI.

Please follow the link below to the NIOSH full updated CBRN Protection List: https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/CBRNrespApprovalResources.html#list

It gives 286 identified CBRN hazards that the NH15 is certified to protect against for escape. If it not on that list, it doesn’t mean it doesn’t protect against it, it may just mean that it is a chemical not identified as a CBRN threat.

In those instances please reach out to Avon Protection for further advice.
