SCBA Cylinders

Q: Is it acceptable for a customer to over-pressurize a cylinder to extend its usable operating time.

A: In accordance with the Original Equipment Manufacturers instructions (attached) it is NOT RECOMMENDED that any attempt is made to exceed the filling/pressurisation limitations as shown on the cylinder label or stamped onto the valve assembly body.

Do not fill a cylinder past its working pressure, do not fill a cylinder past the working pressure of the cylinder valve or the Pressure Relief Device (PRD)

The cylinder, valve and PRD must all be matched to the same working pressures as indicated above.

DO NOT attempt to override any pre-set over-pressurization devices on any charging apparatus.
