Q:  Will the Avon Protection CFP100 filter protect the user against Sodium Hydroxide and Potassium Hydroxide fumes?

A: Yes - the CFP100 is suitable for this application provided exposures remain below IDLH levels and oxygen levels are sufficient. These are particulates and the CFP100 is NIOSH certified to P100 (oil proof and >99.97% efficiency) with the C50 for particulate protection.
Sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide generated in this process would be present primarily as particulate, and the CFP100 is designed to provide high‑efficiency particulate filtration against solid and liquid particulates, including corrosive dusts and mists. From a filtration standpoint, the CFP100 will effectively remove NaOH and KOH particulate at greater than 99.97% efficiency.
The CFP100 is a particulate‑only filter and does not provide protection against gases or vapors, nor does it mitigate heat release or oxygen‑deficient conditions that may arise during exothermic reactions.
