Q: Why does the MITR documentation say "Do Not Use for Escape from Smoke or Fire"?

A: Fire environments can contain a complex mixture of hazards, examples of which include:

  • Carbon monoxide
  • Hydrogen cyanide
  • Oxygen-deficient atmospheres
  • Unknown toxic combustion products

P100 particulate protection alone does not offer protection against such hazards.
